The NGO Center for Affirmative Social Actions (CASA), recently held a workshop in Prizren on “Enhancing the institutional response to gender discrimination in non-majority communities in Kosovo.”
The purpose of the workshop was to evaluate the second draft of the Action Plan of the Kosovo Program for Gender Equality (KPGE) and highlight recommendations for improvement, to provide effective support and services to women from non-majority communities.
There were 21 participants from Kosovo’s non-majority communities present at the workshop from northern Kosovo, Priština, Gnjilane, Uroševac, and Prizren region.
The workshop was designed so that the participants were divided into three working groups, which dealt with three strategic pillars to tackle the gender equality issues in Kosovo i.e., Economic Empowerment and social welfare, Human Development, roles, and gender relations and Women’s rights, access to justice and security.
The outcomes of the workshop will be presented as challenges and limitations in obtaining institutional support and will help identify practical solutions in the final report, “KPGE – enhanced reach toward non-majority communities”. The updates to the 2024-2028 Action Plan of KPGE will prioritize the most critical needs and will be practical and realistic. The report will serve as the foundation for CASA’s advocacy campaign in the future.
The workshop was part of a project, “Enhancing institutional support to women from non-majority communities in combating gender discrimination,” which is supported by UNMIK.
