Simulation of Democracy – new research paper issued by CASA
The research Citizens in Politics produced by the Center for Affirmative Social Actions CASA and HMC Mitrovica, within the OPEN 2022 initiative indicates worrisome findings on patterns of citizens’ participation in the political life of Kosovo Serb community. The study suggests that Kosovo Serb citizens are discouraged to pursue their interests through political activism by systematic pressure and deeply rooted non-democratic practices in political representation. Such malpractices are prevalent and persistent to the level that the Kosovo Serb community perceives the occupation of “politician” as a dishonorable profession that entails behaviors and values opposite of those cherished and aspired in social relations. The result of such perceptions is the diminished potency of society to engage in social and political life and produce the desired changes.
