On Saturday, November 8, at PKC Akvarijus in North Mitrovica, the first joint artistic initiative in this city was held as part of the project “Creative Agents of Peace and Social Inclusion.”
Under the title “The Paper Knew Our Language,” young poets from different communities presented their original works, reading verses in Serbian and Albanian. The event symbolically united Mitrovica and Bujanovac, creating a space where art, emotion, and trust speak the same language.
In the warm and intimate atmosphere of Akvarijus, the audience listened to personal poems on themes of identity, memory, and togetherness, while both silence and applause expressed understanding and support.
This initiative is the result of several months of workshops and mentorship sessions within the project, which brings together young artists from the south Serbia and north of Kosovo, encouraging them to use art as a means of dialogue, reconciliation, and social change.
The event concluded with an informal gathering over music, food, and conversation, confirming that art can be a bridge, even where bridges once seemed broken.
The project “Creative Agents of Peace and Social Inclusion” is implemented by NGO CASA and CDE Valley, with the support of the German Federal Foreign Office through ifa – Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen, within the Zivik Funding Programme.
